Submission Guidelines
We are currently accepting manuscripts in the following genres:
- Children’s fiction and non-fiction, including picture books and youth chapter books.
- Adult non-fiction, including subject matter that has a strong and powerful message.
- We are very interested in regional subjects.
Currently we are not accepting manuscripts in the following genres:
- Adult Fiction
- Romance/Erotica
- Science Fiction/Fantasy
- Mystery/Thriller/Suspense
Each manuscript review is subject to the following fee:
$75.00 for Children’s Picture books
$100.00 for Youth Chapter books/Adult Non-fiction books
The fee includes a professional manuscript critique and feedback from our editing team for up to 3 chapters. A check or money order made payable to Nelson Publishing & Marketing should be included with your submission. If a contract is offered and accepted, the paid manuscript fee will be applied to contract costs.

If you prefer to pay via MasterCard or Visa, please contact our office at (248) 735-0418. Fees paid via credit card are eligible for submission via email. Please send your manuscript to the publisher at marian@nelsonpublishingandmarketing.com.
All manuscripts should be formatted as follows:
- 12 point, Times New Roman
- Double spaced
- A header which includes the following: Title/AuthorName/Word Count and Page #
- A Microsoft Word document
Please include the following for any genre in your submission:
- A cover letter which includes a short synopsis of the story (make sure this catches the reader’s attention), author bio, target audience, and how the book will be marketed.
- Include a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) with enough postage to have all materials returned.
For Children’s manuscripts, please include the entire manuscript without illustrations.
For Adult Non-Fiction and Youth Chapter Book manuscripts, please include the first three chapters, an outline of the remaining chapters, and an outline of all characters.
A formal, written response including comments regarding use of point of view, character/scene/plot development, and grammar/mechanics will be provided in a timely manner.
